Dear A-kasse,
I would like to clarify how my working hours are counted within the 24-month period for the work requirement under the 600-hour rule.
For one of my employments, the income register in my SKAT shows:Period: 22/04/2024 – 16/06/2024
Total hours: 166
Since my qualifying period starts from 01/06/2024, I would like to understand how these hours are assessed when they are reported as one continuous period in the income register.
From my payslips, I can see that:
• I worked 38.5 hours in the period 20/05/2024 – 02/06/2024
• I worked 7.5 hours in the period 03/06/2024 – 16/06/2024
Based on this, I would like to clarify:
• When hours are reported as a single period in the income register, and part of that period overlaps with the qualifying timeframe, are all 166 hours included, or only the hours that fall after 01/06/2024?
• For the payslip covering 20/05/2024 – 02/06/2024, will the full 38.5 hours be considered within the qualifying period, or only the portion corresponding to the days after 01/06/2024?
In addition, I have a few questions regarding my insurance status:
• Is it possible to change from full-time insurance to part-time insurance before I register as a new graduate, and are there any specific conditions I need to fulfill before requesting this change?
• I intend to change my status from student to new graduate on 21 June. In this case, how will the 24-month period for counting working hours be defined? Specifically, which month will the period start from and which month will it end with?I am asking because my A-kasse has not given me any response at all to these questions despite having asked them two months ago with follow up email. Thank you in advance for your guidance.
Kind regards,

there must be reported income/working hours in 12 of the 24 months, and the A-kasse will calculate 24 months back in time from the day when you apply for unemployment benefits (not nessasary the same day as you register as new graduate).
A decision is therefore first made as to whether the work requirement has been met when the member requests unemployment benefits.
Paid hours can be included in the calculation of the employment requirement if the hours are reported to the income register during the 24 months period. It is irrelevant when the employment was carried out.
Only employment that follows a collective agreement (“Overenskomst”) or is otherwise carried out on ordinary pay and working conditions can be included. This means, for example, that your salary must not be too low. If your hourly wage is below DKK 148,98 in 2026, you must expect that the A-kasse will take a closer look at it.
I think your A-kasse must help you about the question whether to change from full-time to part-time insurance. I can have some consequences and its therefore important you get advice from the A-kasse.
Hope it helps.
Best regards,
Anders, A-kasser.dk
