Hi,
I am currently a master student (studying the erasmus mundus programme SUFONAMA) and i spent the first year of my studies in Copenaghen, where i also had a part time job (44 hours a month) for 6 months. I am a EU citizen and i am now living and studying in another country for my second year of studies. After graduation (september) i am considering to move back to Denmark and i was wondering if it would be possible for me to get unemployment benefit since my degree is considered a double degree fully recognized in both countries i studied. Also, i saw that the benefit is different if you are full or part time insured and i was wondering what is the difference.Hi,
I assume you ask about the possibility to get unemployment benefits as a newly graduate.
There are some conditions you must meet:
1. You had a permanent address in Denmark no later than one day before the start of your education.
2. You are in Denmark no later than 14 days (including weekends) after graduation. This correspondents with the 2 weeks deadline for
signing up for A-kasse.
3. You must have completed an education of a duration of at least 1½ year duration (90 ECTS points).
4. The education must be public recognized. If you are entitled to receive SU it means its public recognized.I do not know enough about the erasmus mondus programme, to tell if it meets the condition of being public recognized in Denmark. I have tried to look at https://www.su.dk/, to find out if Erasmus programmes are SU-eligible. If an education is SU-eligible in Denmark, then its also public recognized.
I have read about the two-year MSc programme in Sustainable Forest and Nature Management (SUFONAMA) here: https://em-sufonama.eu/about/. It’s a 2 year education (120 ECTS point), so it meets the requirement of duration.
If its public recognized and you also meet the requirements of living in Denmark right before starting education and again at latest 14 days after finishing, then you should be able to get unemployment benefits as a graduate.
If you can get benefits you should sign up as fully insured if you are able and willing to work full-time. Only if you want to work less than 30 hours per week, it can be an option to sign up for part-time membership in A-kasse.
Finally, remember the 14 days deadline for graduates to sign up for A-kasse.
