    Hi,

My name is Azadeh Reyahi, a Swedish medical researcher in Gothenburg University in Sweden and a member of A-kassa there. I have started a new job in Aarhus University for two years (2023-2024). Swedish A-kassa told me that I should become a member in Danish A-kasse. Could you please let me know how is the procedure?

    Thanks,
    Azadeh

    Hi,

you need to sign up with a danish A-kasse. In Denmark this is done online. You must fill out a form on the A-kasse website, and you will become member from the day you fill out the form. You can find sign up links to all danish A-kasser on our homepage, A-kasser.dk.

When you have been member in a swedish A-kasse, I will recommend that you try to get your acquired rights (working and membership periods) transfered to the danish A-kasse. In this way you will gain right to Unemployment benefits (“dagpenge”) from the danish A-kasse faster, because you probably already will meet the requirements for being eligble for dagpenge, when your rights from the swedish A-kasse are taken in to account.

You need a PD U1 document from the swedish A-kasse. This PD U1 you must give to the danish A-kasse. In this document the danish A-kasse can see your acquired rights from the swedish A-kasse.

Read more about transfering rights here:
    https://www.a-kasser.dk/transfering-periods-of-work-and-insurance-from-another-eea-country/

If you are not an swedish/EU citizen, its also important to consider whether its a good idea to join a danish A-kasse. Read more here:

Please post any comments in this fora.

    Best regards,
    Anders Weber, A-kasser.dk

    Hi,

    Thanks for the information!
I have selected Akademikernes A-kasse among all the options in the link you kindly sent. Shall I directly contact them? As I understood, I should join the A-kasse first and then try to transfer my Swedish A-kassa to the Danish one. Right?

    Best regard,
    Azadeh

    Hi,

yes you need to tell Akademikernes A-kasse that you want to transfer your rights (insurance and working periods) from the swedish A-kasse. They will tell you what they need of information (probably PD U1 document and proof of income from Sweden like payment notes or other).

    Best regards,
    Anders Weber, A-kasser.dk
